May 14, 2013 – DALTON, GA – USFloors has achieved GREENGUARD GOLD Indoor Air Quality Certification for COREtec Plus® Engineered Luxury Vinyl Floors, a patent-pending luxury vinyl collection the company developed and introduced at Surfaces 2013. GREENGUARD GOLD Certification (formerly known as GREENGUARD Children & Schools) is the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute’s most stringent testing requirement for emissions of formaldehyde, aldehydes, phenols, and other VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). COREtec Plus® joins USFloors’ Natural Cork™ and Natural Bamboo™ products in the company’s portfolio of GREENGUARD GOLD Certified products.
GREENGUARD Gold Certification requirements comply with the State of California’s Department of Public Health Services Standard Practice for Specification Section 01350 (California Section 01350) for testing chemical emissions from building products used in schools and other environments. As such, GREENGUARD Gold Certified products can be used to earn valuable credits in the CHPS Best Practices Manual for K-12 schools, the US Green Building Council’s LEED® Green Building Rating Systems, the Green Guide for Healthcare, the NAHB Green Building Guidelines, Green Globes, Regreen and many other building codes, standards and specifications.

The Award of Excellence is voted on by floor covering retailers and presented by Floor Covering News magazine and the World Floor Covering Association. Cork Décor is a vinyl-encapsulated cork tile that carries a 15 year heavy commercial warranty, likely the only commercial cork floor with such a warranty. Cork Décor Volume 2 made its debut at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart during NeoCon 2011, the National Exposition of Contract Furnishings.

Best of Neocon, presented by Contract Magazine, is awarded by the Best of Neocon jury, composed of 45 corporate, government, and institutional facilities management executives, interior designers, and architects, who are responsible for selecting and buying furniture and furnishings for their specific organizations or clients. The seven jury teams visited Merchandise Mart showrooms and temporary market suites to judge each product in person. Manufacturers or product designers had the opportunity to explain and discuss details of the entered product and answer jurors’ questions.

A mere two years in existence, USFContract has managed to capture this coveted award which has eluded many mature contract commercial companies with many more years in the contract market. Dalton, GA. USFloors, a nationwide leader in sustainable flooring, installed an 144.48 kW solar array on their facilities. USFloors President Piet Dossche explained, “The array is expected to more than cover the energy needs for our green building, producing enough energy to power 10 Georgia homes. As part of USFloors’ ongoing sustainability mission, we have more than quadrupled the amount of solar energy we provide to the community.” The array covers approximately 14,500 square feet, and is visible from I-75.
