(Dalton, GA) US Floors has launched the New Dimensions Collection to expand the range of options in its Natural Cork brand of cork flooring. New Dimensions features a selection of 24″ x 18″ wide format cork tiles and nominal 7″ x 36″ narrow cork planks, both with beveled edges and exclusive built-in Microban anti-microbial protection. These new additions are precision milled with the patented Uniclic glueless installation profile for ease of installation.

“The New Dimensions Collection provides new and exciting design options for the cork flooring consumer”, says Gary Keeble, Marketing Manager for US Floors. “The wide tiles and can be installed point-to-point for a more monolithic surface visual or be offset in a brickwork pattern to highlight the beveled edges of the product. The beveled edges of the narrow planks give this cork floor a more traditional hardwood look when installed.”

Products in the New Dimensions Collection are backed by Lifetime Residential Wear and Structure Warranties and a 5 Year Light/Medium Commercial Warranty.

Sustainable and Eco-Friendly

Cork trees are a member of the beech family are relatively slow growing. They grow throughout the coastal regions of the Mediterranean. Cork is actually the bark of the cork tree and is harvested by actually peeling the bark away from the tree. This does not hurt the tree and actually helps the tree to thrive. The initial harvest is at 25 years of maturity and can be re-harvested every 9 to 11 years. It’s typical for a cork tree to still be producing cork bark after 200 years of age. The harvested cork is used for corks for wine bottles. The waste cork from this process is then graded and used for flooring and other products. Better grades are used for products such as flooring while lesser grades are used for other products such as cork boards.

Green Building Friendly

Natural Cork flooring products qualify for 3 LEED credits:

  • MR 4 | Recycled Content
  • MR 6 | Rapidly Renewable Materials
  • EQ 4.4 | Low Emitting Materials – Composite Wood and Laminate Adhesives

The determining factor for indoor air quality is the quantity of noxious emanations from volatile organic components in adhesives and finishes. Our cork floors are produced with adhesives and finishes from European manufacturers and meet the E1 standard, a European test method to measure formaldehyde emissions. Our bamboo also meets European E1 standards for Indoor Air Quality. Our core board material that provides the structure for the cork veneer is also formaldehyde-free.
